“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:19-20.
Imagine, for a moment, the old-fashioned prayer meetings you might have attended as a child or young adult on Wednesday evenings. People lifted up prayer requests and read scripture. Sometimes the preacher shared a short sermon, and prayer intermixed it all.
Some churches have given up these services, or they’ve morphed into something else. Due to schedule conflicts, some folks don’t attend Wednesday night services. Whatever the situation, change isn’t necessarily bad, but pausing to offer up prayer and sing praises collectively within the Christian community is always a good thing.
Every Wednesday, I’ll post Scripture, possibly a short devotion, and a song. If you’d like, post your prayer requests in the comments section, and pray for those who’ve left a request. Lift your voice in song, as we come before God with our petitions, praise, and intercessions.
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16.
Effective prayer is specific prayer. What need do you have today?
My prayer request is for a friend, Courtney. She is 25 years old and has a ten-month-old baby. She is battling a malignant brain tumor and travels back and forth from Greenville, SC, to Duke University in North Carolina for treatment. She had brain surgery to remove most of the tumor, followed by chemotherapy. New MRI shows more growth. Gamma knife radiation surgery is scheduled for Thursday, followed by more chemo. Please pray specifically for Courtney’s healing, strength, and comfort during this difficult time.
Take a moment to enjoy this song, an oldie-but-goodie, “Blessed Assurance,” sung by Third Day.
Please list your prayer requests in the comments section below. If you have a confidential request, email me privately. I will write them in my prayer journal and pray for you. Please remember to return and share praise reports as God works in your life.
God bless each of you today!

Great post!! I love knowing that someone is praying for me. Life is tough and just going thru the daily stuff can bring us down when we take our eyes off the Lord. My request is that I will keep my eyes on Him when things seem to be dragging me down. Thank you for your prayers!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Piper. I have said a prayer for you and will continue to pray. I know how easy it is for life's problems to drag you down. We serve a God who is greater!
DeleteI lift Courtney to You, Lord, and ask that you supernaturally intervene and heal this cancer. Give her and her family comfort and peace, rest and refreshment as they deal with this huge health problem and the travel and treatments.
ReplyDeleteI also lift Laura up to you today, Lord, and ask that you bless her week and her writing ministry.
And I lift up Piper and ask that You help her keep her eyes on You, Lord. May she have a blessed week.
I also ask for prayer for my health and time management.
In His Precious, Holy Wonderful Name
Amen
